EDF out of UK electricity
So no new Nuclear? So No New Pylons for North Somerset?
Welcome News for all in North Somerset
This morning on the Today programme it was announced that EDF is pulling out of its UK electricity supply companies, it is thus I believe highly unlikely that they will continue with leading nuclear build in the UK. If I am right then there will be no new nuclear at Hinkley Point and thus no need for Pylons across North Somerset!
It also means that the UK will have to get serious over where its energy is going to come from in the future and this means following Lib Dem policies on 1) reducing wasteful use of energy (increasing insulation etc) 2) increasing alternative energy supplies especially sea systems such as Severn Energy (low head barrage or otherwise) and 3) working with Europe to invest in the MENA project (energy from the deserts) with massive solar arrays (Mirrors and water pipes) providing energy via a Europe wide super conducting grid.
We are most definitely living in interesting times
Best wishes
